WORDS FROM VOGUE (INTERVIEW ARCHIVE)

This archival media work, created as part of the ‘Vogue Leader: 2024 Women Now’ exhibition, is based on interviews with 30 female leaders selected by Vogue Korea. The archive media, consisting of three digital panels, one touch panel, and a sticker printer, fundamentally features a conversational interface. It also sparks visual interest through a two-column grid layout, Vogue’s exclusive typeface, and text animations. As visitors explore keywords and sentences using the touch panel and receive printed stickers containing related quotes, they naturally engage with the women’s stories. Enhancing spatial awareness and immersion through a modular steel structure and lighting design, this work transforms the magazine archive into a new experience while meaningfully spreading the voices of female leaders. Moreover, its efficient interface design provides visitors with a space for empathy and discourse.

WORDS FROM VOGUE

This work, created as part of the ‘Vogue Leader: 2024 Women Now’ exhibition, is a media art representation of an interview archive featuring 30 female leaders selected by Vogue Korea. It encapsulates the stories of women who have achieved challenges and growth in various fields, including writers, actors, musicians, artists, sports figures, and psychiatrists.

Consisting of three 49-inch digital panels, a 10-inch touch panel, and a sticker printer, this work offers visitors an experience akin to engaging in conversation with the interviewees. The digital panels adopt a two-column grid format, with questions on the left and answers on the right, reminiscent of a print layout. Utilizing Vogue Korea’s proprietary typeface, the work establishes brand identity while employing text animations that break words into syllables, arousing visual interest.

Through the touch panel, visitors can explore keywords and sentences extracted from the 30 interviews. Selecting a desired keyword prompts the output of a metallic silver sticker containing the related sentence, symbolically expressing the strength of women while encouraging visitor participation. This process allows visitors to contemplate the interview content more deeply.

The structure, crafted from steel modules, embodies both robustness and sophistication. Laid atop a red carpet, it evokes the openness of a hanok window, maximizing the sense of space. Meticulous lighting enhances immersion in the work.

This work not only elevates the magazine archive into art but also serves as a meaningful archive that records and disseminates the voices of female leaders. Rebel9 sought to fulfill the role of an archive through an interface design considering search efficiency. Furthermore, it provides visitors with opportunities for personal experience and empathy while functioning as a platform for generating discourse on contemporary female leadership.
